Buttons are great personality signifiers for kids, offering instant, literal expression. With this easy, five-step button maker, kids can create their own designs, which can be worn on clothes, hats, and backpacks, or given away. Included are 20 button tops, bottoms, illustrated designs, and backs (magnetic or clip-on). The machine presses the materials together to form a button. Thoughtfully, a template is included. Once kids learn how to use the machine, they could easily use up all the materials in one day, and some of the designs may not be original enough for them. It's best for kids 8 years or older; the parts could pose a choking hazard to much younger kids. No batteries or electrical outlets are required. --Diane Beall
