The book contains enormous word list which is more than enough for GRE. I would suggest students to use another dictionary (like wordweb) as well to get a better understanding of the words mentioned in the word list. I personally feel the quantitative section of the book is very helpful. Mock tests given in the book should be revised since actual GRE exam has a little higher level than these tests.

If You are new to GRE then must buy Barron's New GRE, It's good for New Pattern of GRE(340 Marks Pattern).its Contain Maths problem chapter by chapter which gives you tips and Tricks for calculating more efficiency and verbal it has very decent word list which gives you a better way to get success in verbal.

It is starter for GRE, If you want to score 315 Up then its not for you.

This is a good starting point for GRE for novices. If you are the person who is aiming for something in the range 250-300 (on a 340) scale, this book will enough. If however, you are like me who wishes to get a score of 320+, this book is absolute rubbish.

While books like Manhattan GMAT have sentence completions with abstruse words like 'divagations', 'habiliments', 'lugubriosity' etc., Barrons GRE will throw words like 'gradual', 'craven', 'gracious' etc.

I wanted to appear for the GRE exam and hence I had gone through many books. I found this book to be refreshing, with newer and different types of tactics to solve the questions.
I really liked the question bank and the detailed solutions and methodologies to solve the questions. I think this is a must buy for all GRE aspirants.

Firstly thanks to the amazing service of flipkart...i jst happen to order it yesterday and I received the book by 12 noon today...
coming to the contents of the books wid a change it doesnt contain the typical wordlists from the old barron's but i found it enough to start up one's preparation and get acquainted with the major changes which took place in both verbal and quant sections...planning to start off wid this !!

No word lists.
Mere copy paste of old questions.
Nothing more than a reiteration of material & directions available on GRE website.
Good for Beginners but not a self sufficient book for GRE.
Seriously lacks a good verbal section.
But Maths section better than and more exhaustive than any other book.

Don't refer this book if you want to practice. This book is good for brushing up your concepts which you might have forgotten after school. Almost all concepts and topics are covered.
For practice you can refer to all the free materials available on internet or buy Kaplan GRE Premier.
A combo of this book along with Kaplan GRE Premier ( for practice) is enough for your GRE preparations..

A book comprised of the New Revised GRE format.
Has got many papers to make you practice till you get perfect if not then at least close enough to it.
The CD along with it is also of great use.
After the Princeton Review GRE books this is the next best thing.

This book is an excellent resource for the GRE, i only had to use this book along with the official ETS book...i only wrote the official powerprep tests and most of the important patterns of questions are covered here..:) i suggest that you spend atleast 3-4 days with the book :) barrons helped me get 330 :D so its def a good book :)
