Sabitha and Rasheed, a doctor couple, leave their homeland in Kerala to work in the holy city of Mecca. Not a Muslim by birth, Sabitha converts to Islam for marriage. Her decision to move to Mecca is more so for Rasheed’s happiness than her own choice. The story spans six years they spend in Mecca. It deals with her understanding of Islam as she observes, experiences and questions the restrictions to which women around her are subjected.
