  • Description
The course ‘Basic Biochemistry’ deals with the study of molecules and chemical reactions with in the living cells. It is essential to know the molecules of life in order to understand the disease development mechanism and the role of blood metabolites having diagnostic value. It has been understood very clearly that the dis-balance in the level of clinically important molecules present in blood, urine and other body fluids leads to cause specific disease in the patient. Hence, this course has become one of the most common subject and are included in the curriculum of various UG and PG programs such as MBBS, BAMS, MLT, Optometry, Dietetics & Nutrition, Nursing and many other paramedical programs. I’ve experienced that medical students are worried of chemistry and its chemical reaction. Though the use of reactions are very less in the clinical practice, it is therefore suggested to focus on building a basic concept about the biomolecules and its importance in human body. Human body is made up of numerous molecules. Changes in the molecules concentration usually generate disease. Hence, it is strongly recommended to understand about the essential molecules and their role in biological activity. This book has been designed to provide instant notes in Basic Biochemistry as per the course design of B. Optometry.
