The Bedroom is our most private space where we let our guards down and dare to be at our ugliest worst. The characters of this ensemble drama, aspire, as we all do, to a picture perfect life. But at the end of the day, when our expectations fall short, we retire to our Bedroom, rest our head on our pillow and sink into the familiar discomfort of being our unaccomplished, pitiful selves.
Written and directed by Mainak Bhaumik, Bedroom narrates the tale of three couples whose loyalty is put to test by the demands of the fast-paced life. From jealousy, an extramarital affair to seeking refuge in a sex worker disenchanted by a lack of conjugal life, the film touches upon various aspects of the modern urban landscape in Kolkata.
Boasting of some formidable performances by Paoli Dam, Abir Chatterjee, Rahul, Tanushree and Parno Mitra, the film stands out for its on-the-face narrative. Bedroom also makes a mark for the songs composed by Rupam Islam and Allan Ao, which help in taking the narrative forward.
