Why is there a shipping charge for this item?

Sellers with Flipkart Assured waive off the delivery charge for Orders over Rs 500. For Orders under Rs 500, a nominal delivery charge is added per item.

Sellers without Flipkart Assured may or may not add a delivery charge to your Order. This is subject to Seller discretion.

What is the estimated delivery time?

Sellers generally procure and ship the items within the time specified on the product page. Business days exclude public holidays and Sundays.

Estimated delivery time depends on the following factors:

      • The Seller offering the product
      • Product's availability with the Seller
      • The destination to which you want the order shipped to and the Seller's location

Why does the delivery date not correspond to the delivery timeline of X-Y business days?

It is possible that the Seller or our courier partners observe a holiday between the day you placed your order and the date of delivery, which is based on the timelines shown on the product page. In this case, we add a day to the estimated date. Some courier partners and Sellers do not work on Sundays and this is factored in to the delivery dates.

What do the different tags like 'In Stock', 'Available' mean?

      'In Stock'

Products‘In Stock’ are readily available with seller.

      'Available'

Products listed as ‘In Stock’ are readily available with seller.

      'Preorder' or 'Forthcoming'

The product is not released yet. You can however ‘book’ an order for this. Shipping happens only after the product launch.

      'Out of Stock'

Currently, the item is not available for sale. Use the 'Notify Me' feature to know once it is available for purchase.

      'Imported'

Sometimes, items have to be sourced by Sellers from outside India. These items are mentioned as 'Imported' on the product page and can take at least 10 days or more to be delivered to you.

      'Back In Stock Soon'

The item is popular and is sold out. You can however 'book' an order for the product and it will be shipped according to the timelines mentioned by the Seller.

      'Temporarily Unavailable'

The product is currently out of stock and is not available for purchase. The product could to be in stock soon. Use the 'Notify Me' feature to know when it is available for purchase.

      'Permanently Discontinued'

This product is no longer available because it is obsolete and/or its production has been discontinued.

      'Out of Print'

This product is not available because it is no longer published and has been permanently discontinued.

Why does the estimated delivery time vary for each seller?

Delivery times are influenced by product availability, geographic location of the Seller, your shipping destination and the courier partner's time-to-deliver to your location.

Please enter your default pin code on the product page to know more accurate delivery times on the product page itself.

Seller does not/cannot ship to my area. Why?

Enter your pincode on the product page to know whether the product can be delivered to your location.

If you haven't provided your pincode until the checkout stage, the pincode in your last used shipping address will be used to check for serviceability.

Whether your location can be serviced or not depends on:

      • Whether the Seller actually ships to your location
      • Legal restrictions, if any, in shipping particular products to your location
      • The availability of reliable courier partners in your location

At times Sellers prefer not to ship to certain locations. This is entirely at their discretion.

    Description

India is more than a nation state. It is also a unique civilization with philosophies and cosmologies that are markedly distinct from the dominant culture of our times — the West. India's spiritual traditions spring from dharma which has no exact equivalent in Western frameworks. Unfortunately, in the rush to celebrate the growing popularity of India on the world stage, its civilizational matrix is being co-opted into Western universalism, thereby diluting its distinctiveness and potential.

In Being Different: An Indian Challenge to Western Universalism, thinker and philosopher Rajiv Malhotra addresses the challenge of a direct and honest engagement on differences, by reversing the gaze, repositioning India from being the observed to the observer and looking at the West from the dharmic point of view. In doing so, he challenges many hitherto unexamined beliefs that both sides hold about themselves and each other. He highlights that while unique historical revelations are the basis for Western religions, dharma emphasizes self-realization in the body here and now. He also points out the integral unity that underpins dharma's metaphysics and contrasts this with Western thought and history as a synthetic unity.

Erudite and engaging, Being Different critiques fashionable reductive translations and analyses the West's anxiety over difference and fixation for order which contrast the creative role of chaos in dharma. It concludes with a rebuttal of Western claims of universalism, while recommending a multi-civilizational worldview.

An Indian who's not read this is not a true Indian!

If we really want to realize our motherland India and its greatness as compared with mimicking of the west that Nehruvian India does since past 60 years, one cannot live without reading this masterpiece that:

    1. Is the essence of 15-20 years of indepth global research
    2. Is authored by a man who donated Rs.200 cr. (in 1994) worth of business wealth to dedicate his life to this sole cause

Go right ahead, buy it and you will love India all the more, nay be proud of it!

    Its different and relevant!!!

anyone who is interested in philosophy, india and eastern ideas must read this book. I personally feel that atleast the book's summary must be made a compulsory read in schools. One realises the extent to which an indian mind has got colonised by the western universals which is widely evident in the way our so-called Indian intellectuals present their case wrt reformation of Indian society while largely ignoring the western problems!!!

A must for every Hindu, especially "english educated and confused" lot.

This book is a must buy for every Hindu, especially "english educated/confused" lot. Rajiv ji made a strenuous effort in coming up with this book. The cover rightly depicts the deep "manthan" he did to present the arguments in his book. Appendices are also a compelling read to understand the integral unity of Dharmic traditions. With christian/western appropriations of Hindu concepts and spiritual methods, the importance of Sanskrit non-translateables can never be over emphasized. A major ins...

    A new thought

Rajiv Malhotra traces the ills of indian society to some roots and points out the many commonly held fallacies that we, educated under the Macaulay system, have often had doubts about, but never knew whom to ask.

Highly recommended for free-thinking individuals who wonder why is India, and specifically Hinduism, only about casteism, cows and corruption, like none other country.

Be careful this book has the ability to turn you into a "Hindu Nationalist" unless you take precautions.

A Book Must Read for All those Who want to See India from Its own Perspective

The legacy of the British Rule is that we Indians especially social scientists and philosophers think like the westerners. We use western categories, models, theories and perspectives to look at our selves. Our culture, society, religion, our problems etc are analysed by ourselves from the point of view of the west. In fact our policy makers, politicians, social activists all are trying to transform our society and culture in the direction of the west. Rajiv Malhotra a true modern Maharishi s...

    Book of the Hour

I've been reading this book and since then all my questions have been answered such as why does Christian's or Muslims are looking for convert ism all the time. Why can't we all keep aside the differences and be human etc etc !!

This book is really a Challenge and is a Myth breaker about Similarities what missionaries always talk about to seek conversion

Rajiv Malhotra did a tremendous job in exposing these hypocrites.

A big salute to Rajiv Malhotra ji

I congratulate flipkart for meeting our expectations every time, including this one's.
For author: #RESPECT, I would like to bow to Shri Rajiv Malhotra for this masterpiece.
Now on the book: First of all I would like to warn all casual readers who may buy this book for just some spicy and leisurely reading, It will give you a nasty headache (like it gave to my naïve younger brother, who picked it up for just some casual time pass at airport) as its highly dense concepts and matter will chal...
