Came across this book at a friend's place, had never heard of Toni Morrison, the book didn't say anything about her Nobel prize etc. Began reading it thinking it was a romance novel, read the first few pages thought I was having a stroke because nothing made sense, so I dropped it, picked it up again the next day and read couple more pages and was transfixed and transported.
Could not put it down and didn't want it to finish.

This is one book that will haunt you forever! I read it as a part of my college syllabus, and can never get over it. The style and the narrative may take some getting used to, but this book is truly disturbing in a transformational way, and deserves all the accolades it has received.
