According to the constitution, India is a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic that provides justice, equality, and freedom for its inhabitants and works to foster brotherhood.

Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, also known as Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, was an Indian economist, politician, social reformer, and polymath who lived from April 14, 1891, to December 6, 1956. He spearheaded the Dalit Buddhist movement and battled against discrimination against the untouchables in society (Dalits). He supported the rights of farmers, labourers, and women as well. He served as the country's first law and justice minister upon independence and was one of the architects of the Indian Constitution. He was also one of the founders of the Republic of India.
