Nasturtium Alaska seeds can be started indoors at least 4 to 6 weeks before the last frost of spring. It is advisable to plant the seeds in early spring in moist, well-drained soil. Even though these plants can grow in partial shade, they will not bloom as well as in full sunlight. Like in the case of every other plant, fertile soil is the most important ingredient in growing healthy plants. However, Nasturtiums prefer poor soil and only require fertilizers in case of extremely poor soil. Fertile soil will produce more leaves than flowers.Plant the seeds about half an inch deep into the soil. Keep a distance of 10 to 12 inches between plants. After planting, the seedlings will start to appear in just 7 to 10 days. Nasturtiums require regular watering throughout the growing season.
