Value-for-money

What 'blink' taught me was the power of snap judgements. Snap judgements comes from our unconscious mind. And it's more effective and most of the time, than the decisions that we make after a long time of thinking. It taught me that our unconscious mind performs a calculation like robots does. It picks up each and every details and changes occurring around us. That's why when your girlfriend or someone close is sad, you knows instantly they are sad, even if they are trying to hide it. Fascinating!

This is the first time I'm reading a Malcolm Gladwell book and I can't help but admire his style of writing. The first chapter seemed rather arcane and I did not really get a feel of where the book was headed. But soon the pieces began to fall in place. I really loved his anecdotal style of writing and the manner in which he dodges back and forth with the multiple stories and research topics. So every now and then the reader would be forced to pause and sink in the broader theory the author i...

Worth a Read

Sometimes we make choices in an instant - in the blink of an eye. We arrive at a decision in the first two seconds after a problem is presented to us. Blink is a book about those first two seconds. Through this book, Gladwell makes the reader aware of his gut instincts and urges him to trust them more frequently. We always think that the best decisions are those which are taken after gathering as much information as possible. Blink tries to convince us that decisions made very quickly can be ...

Makes u think

This is the second book by Malcolm Marshall that i read, the first being "Outliers" and i found both to be equally good. Many concepts like thin slicing etc are repeated through the book, but the large number of stories mentioned make u think about the everyday life around us. Can get a lil repetitive, but surely worth a read for those who like psychology.

Nice read

Totally worth it. Broadens your thinking. Aroused my interest in psychology. Contains many interesting example from life to think about. Would try to incorporate the lessons given in the book into my life. I would be reading 'Thinking fast and slow' after this.
