Great book from (arguably) the greatest player of his time. Best for level-1 learners and seniors alike. The wonderful feature is that you do not need to know the chess notations or even have a chess board to follow the book. The basic strategies have been illustrated with excellence. It is a book basically for beginners but a masterpiece collection item for any chess lover.

In one word-fabulous. This book will appeal to all those who love chess or are starting to understand the nuances or just beginners. Bobby Fischer was a genius no doubt; yet he has explained the nuances in a simple "story telling" narrative.

This is a book meant for absolute beginners. If you have gone through the basics of chess from anywhere else then DO NOT buy this book. For a good three quarters of the book there is nothing which can be called 'challenging' or which requires deep thinking.

For Beginners, yes it is pretty good though. It teaches you to look for back rank mates, little combos and dwells on the basic principles like pinning a piece, discovered checks, removing the defender, etc.

If you are reading reviews that says pages are printed upside down, don't buy it, please ignore them, half pages are printed upside down and there is reason for that and once you get the book you will know why is that, do buy it if you want to know some more moves, for beginners

I am a proffesional Chess Coach and player having the fide rating of 2019. I have been used this book past several years to train young children.To my opinion this book is a great tool for teaching chess to children. Most of my students enjoyed its programmed fashion. Another reason to my love this book is it explains the very important theme elements of checkmate. Highly recommended.

Please do not go by the negative reviews. The book is title "teaches chess" and therefore explains the basics. A really good one.

Very nice book for any type of chess player.

Excellent book for beginners. The layout of the book is brilliant. Don't have to move your head right and left. Keep reading on the right side of the page. At the end, flip the book and continue reading on the right side. Imaginative, easy on the eyes.

This book is a must read for beginners. It builds on some nice fundamental techniques. A must for chess-enthusiasts.
