How I Braved Anu Aunty and Co-Founded A Million Dollar Company by Varun Agarwal is a compelling and humorous account of the fulfilment of entrepreneurial dreams.

    Summary Of The Book

How I Braved Anu Aunty and Co-Founded A Million Dollar Company is the true story of its young author Varun. The protagonist dreams about becoming an entrepreneur without much support from people around him. Convention emerges as a potent problem in the form of Engineering and MBA degrees. Alongside, there is also Anu Aunty, his mother’s best friend who turns into his biggest threat.

The character of Anu Aunty stands out in the book and she is presented as an interfering woman, poking her nose into the problems of others. She is the quintessential anxious Indian mother of an accomplished son. How I Braved Anu Aunty and Co-Founded A Million Dollar Company presents Anu Aunty’s constant ridicule and mocking of Varun’s seemingly laidback and unaccomplished personality. Anu Aunty keeps appearing as an obstacle in the path of Varun and his friends at every juncture.

However, Anu Aunty’s ridicule eventually spurs Varun onto greater heights and he comes up with a business idea in partnership with his friend Rohan Malhotra. He decides to follow his own dreams and establishes an organization called Alma Mater. Creating customized accessories and outfits for educational alumni in India, the venture is a roaring success.

How I Braved Anu Aunty and Co-Founded A Million Dollar Company is the author’s debut novel and is on its fourth reprint already. Having sold twenty thousand copies in only a month, the book has become a bestseller by national standards. It has also occupied a firm foothold on the bestseller charts for eighty days at a stretch. He attained initial popularity with his Facebook blog posts, a few of which were sent to his publishers. The book was conceived once they demanded a full manuscript.

    Everyone should read this book.

This book gives it's readers a deeper look into the life and mind of a young individual who wants to do something with his life, it is like a mirror kept right in front of us so we know that we are JUST like him.
The best part about it is that you will feel like you're listening to a friend talk to you about his life, how amusing and funny it is because its something that happens to each and every one of us, everyday of our lives.

    A must must read!

One of the greatest books I read so far in this year. It shows you how a person's character transforms yet remains the same with the experiences and situations that he/she stumbles upon.

You start the book relating to Varun, the author. When you were in that stage of deciding what to do with your life and people giving you a number of advice. You didn't want to meet your family friends in order to avoid, "So aajkal kya kar rahe hai bache aapke" But then as the book proceeds when you have com...

    Top books

There are few authors in India who write exceptionally well. Varun is one of those. I am a vivid reader and read almost all the books that come my way. This stands third.

    1. Corporate Chanakya
    2. That's the way we met - Sudeep Nagarkar
    3. How I braved Any Aunty - Varun Aggarwal
    4. The Backbenchers - Siddharth Oberoi
    5. The immortals of Melhua- Amish Tripathi

    Pros and Cons

    Pros:

    1) Awesome way of telling a success story
    2) A bangalorean can definitely relate to several details mentioned in the book
    3) Keeps you interested throughout
    4) Inspiring for a wannabe entrepreneur for sure.

    Cons (not very significant though):

    1) The occasional use of vulgar lingo to keep it funny, was uncalled for, really! Also, at few places, the bangalorean way of speaking seemed to be exaggerated.
    2) The book is not a 'guide to entrepreneurship'. It's purely the story of Varun an...

i would buy it solely for the post script!

He’s clearly not Paulo Coelho but his writing reflects genuine storytelling. Varun Agarwal, a pat on your back! This book is truly inspirational (myself included) for the ones sitting at home, spending endless hours on facebook and waiting to take our leap and make something of ourselves on our very own!
What I loved was the casual tone of the book with the right amount of humor and romance! The book connects well with any clueless college compadre who’s waiting for a breakthrough in life an...

    An ordinary book

Unlike others I am not writing this review because I am Varun's friend/fan or because Varun asked/requested me on social n/w sites and elsewhere, to write a good review on flipkart. I didnt want to write this review but I do it so that the customers arent misguided. The book by Varun is well written but it is nothing more than ordinary, just like many other books in the market. The wannabe entrepreneurs might like it. The keyword here is ''might''. You can buy this book if you are ready to th...
