Description

Published in February 2013, Brouhahas of Cocks is Mustansir Dalvi’s first collection of poems in English and they are sure to captivate the hearts and minds of the readers.

Summary Of The Book

Brouhahas of Cocks is an excellent collection of English poems by the poet. Those reading the poems must make sure to pay close attention while reading, as the poems are not simple. Readers are advised to take note of the usage of words by the poet, as the words he uses seem to roll into each other as the poems progress. These twists and turns often make the readers squirm as well.

This book has been divided into 7 parts, and some of the chapters include Faith On The Vembanad, South Africa’s First Kokani Wicket-Keeper, Lines For An Infant Who Fell Off A Train, Merry Morning Locals, Sunset At Bardem, Mar Thom Crosses The Oceans, Sweet Bird Of Mylapore, Anywhere But Hind, Hunchback Of The World Trade Centre, The Perfumer’s Woman, A Saint Prays For Rain, Kingfisher At Nileshwaram, and Da Boys Of Yankee Stadium.

The time zones, and soundscapes of the poems are not the same throughout, and so that accounts for even more complexity in his works. The poems are also filled with wit, and humour, along with occasional bawdiness as well. All of this helps to make the collection enjoyable for the readers. Sexual assaults, and roadkills have also been portrayed by the poet on numerous occasions. The poet seems to pay a great deal of attention to images and this can be seen throughout the book.

Published by Mumbai’s Poetrywala, this set of poems has provided a great deal of entertainment to its readers.
