The Canon PowerShot SX260 HS features a stylish and highly sophisticated body design with the control buttons on the back panel which are easily accessible while shooting, making it a very user friendly camera. The Canon point and shoot camera manages to weigh only 224 g including battery and memory card, giving it a heightened advantage of portability. The camera also features the highly advanced Digic 5 image processor, that enables 1080p full HD video recording at 24 fps for the highest possible video quality.

Battery and Storage

The images captured by the SX260 HS are stored in SD, SDHC or SDXC memory cards, which can easily be offloaded to a PC or a laptop with the help of a high-speed USB port or a memory card reader. This PC or laptop connection is made possible with the camera's compatibility with the latest Windows and Mac operating systems.

The Canon PowerShot is powered by a NB-6L rechargeable lithium-ion battery that lets you shoot up to 230 images on full charge. The HDMI port allows you to transmit your photos and HD videos on a compatible large screen television. The analog video output capacity of the camera is capable of transmitting both PAL and NTSC output signals.

Performance

This PowerShot camera from Canon has a light sensitivity range of ISO 100 - 3200. It also has a shutter speed range of 1 - 1/3200 second in Auto mode which can go as low as 15 sec on manual exposure mode. With the built-in pop-up flash, you can light up the scene in a range of 50 cm - 3.5 m (Wide) and 0.9 - 2.0 m (Tele) and ensure clear and high visibility for the elements within the frame.

This Canon compact camera uses the iris aperture control, which ranges from f/3.5 to f/8.0 (Wide) and f/6.8 to f/8.0 (Tele). The camera has the auto focus function, which works using TTL or through the lens auto focus technology which has an operational range of 50 mm (Wide) and 1000 mm (Tele) to infinity in the auto mode and 50 mm to 500 mm while in macro mode.

Features

Featuring an incredible array of intelligent shooting modes and creative filters like portrait, smooth skin, monochrome, snow and many more, the camera also comes with white balancing. The white balancing has an auto mode or a number of pre-set values to make it easier to get the desired result. The advent of the lens shift image stabilization technology will make sure that end result of image or video is blur free. There are also an abundance of extra features like PictBridge, GPS, Self-timer, continuous shooting and many more.

The PictBridge technology allows you to connect the camera directly to a printer without a PC, enabling easy direct photo printing. Equipped with the latest GPS technology, the PowerShot SX260 HS automatically records the locations and local times of your photographs and videos.

The Continuous mode is a great feature that enables the camera to take a series of shots in a very short period of time. The Canon SX240 HS has the ability to capture up to 10.3 shots per second while on the continuous mode. Face ID technology allows the registration of up to 12 individuals, who the camera automatically recognises, making searching and sorting of images very easy. This self-timer feature has variations in the form of wink and smile timer, which releases the shutter by identifying specific facial gestures.

best travel zoom camera of 2012

this one is a really awesome camera to own, picture quality is also really good. 20x zoom works well and can be taken to 80x with digital zoom. full manual options such as PASM makes this camera suitable for the ones who like to test and experiment with their cameras. although canon says that the battery lasts only 230 shots, i have got around 260 along with video recording.

low light imaging is also good(but remember to use P mode and keep the ISO in the range of 400-800)
flash works well...
