Description

Advanced Point and Shoot cameras are simple to use even though they come packed with a host of different features that can make photography fun for even the greenest lensman. The Canon PowerShot SX 500 is a great camera for beginners as well as for professionals to serve as an emergency backup camera.

Sensor Technology

The camera is equipped with a high performance 16 MP image sensor that can be used even for low light photography with adequate artificial lighting, often supplied by the in-built flash. The camera is quite compact for the kind of lens that it comes with. The sensor-lens arrangement is finely tuned to take high quality images over a wide range of situations.

Zoom In

This camera is capable of taking photos over quite a distance. The lens can zoom in to 30 times more than standard focus (30 X) which lets you take pictures of subjects that are at quite a distance away from you. Get in on the action without even physically being there as long as you are within the 30 X range of the camera to capture that awesome shot you always wanted.

Auto Mode

Most camera that come with Auto Mode for Focusing, do so at the expense of speed. The Canon PowerShot on the hand is perfectly capable of taking pictures in the Auto Focus mode, with little or no lag in speed between focusing and clicking the perfect shot.

Ultra Slim

This camera is ultra-compact and loaded with a really powerful wide-angle lens with optical zoom along the range of 24 – 720 mm. The slim profile can easily trick you into thinking that the camera skimps on features to fit into the profile. On closer examination however, you can see that you have most if not all the manual controls that can be seen on a quintessential DSLR camera. This provides you with quality in all your well times images.

Intelligent IS

This camera is capable of setting the IS levels automatically for almost all situations which results in crystal clear pictures that can be captured by just about anyone with the photographer’s eye. Capture the precious moments in the form of photos or videos. The intelligent IS can eliminate shakes by simple analysis of the motion sensed through the camera body. Taking into account the subject and the camera, the Intelligent IS can identify the shot type and make adjustments accordingly. You also have Zoom with Framing Assist.

Value for Money--Nothing to match its Zoom of 30X at this price.

Hi -- I am nature freak and treak atleast once a Month and certainly wanted a Camera which has a Decent ZooM( Decent Definition is was anything above 10X).

I just bought this a week back and pretty impressed with its Manual feature options and Looks---I like it slightly more than my wife.

Pros:
1. Not required a Net strap as it is just 360grams and dont feel really heavy

3. 30X Zoom optical is Amazing and 30x additiona zoon on Digital can go upto ...

Cons:
1) Panorama feature is not available. But that is the case with every C...

Best camera in for ammeture photographers

I like this camera because:
- Very slim, low weight. It is an huge difference then other bulky bridge cameras in this range. I checked Nikon 820 and Sony H300 along with this in store. And this is the best one.
- Lithium battery, Fast to Charge. Nikon and Sony has AA batteries.
- Image Stabilizer is really good.
- Nikon 820 has CMOS sensor, but I compared images from Nikon 820 and this camera. There is no major difference.
- Color detailing of this camera is better then Sony and Nikon.

I do ...

One of the best

In this price range there is no other camera that can beat this one.
For those who want to feel SLR but can't due to pocket i highly recommend this one.
There is only one drawback that it takes some time to focus at 25 or 30x zoom otherwis a greate camera highly compatible, photo clearty is awesome

And for those who think sensor is weak and...... Go for SLR you dont't deserve to own this camera

Disappointed

The cheap CCD senor is big drawback in this camera for this price range. Im wondering why canon did not use CMOS sensor which would have increased the image quality in low light conditions and also faster FPS performance

Not for proffesional Photography: Noisy Picture

Though the 30x optical zoom is amazing and it can be used as a telescope, the pictue quality is not good....it is too much noisy and details are not available in the telephoto, suppose Bird....it is because most probably for small ccd sensor. I think the sensor should be CMOS. More over the manual focus facility also not available in this camera, it creats too much problem to soot an object while the object is in darkness but in the bachground there is light. But the main problem is the noise ...
