This book touches on a range of incidents, from embezzlement of money to betting on horses and finally to murder. A man who invests stolen money in horse race with the aim of making a profit and replacing the money does indeed win by a stroke of good luck. However, the luck stands to be questioned when the man, before being able to fulfill his plan, faces arrest by the police. Erle Stanley Gardner is an American author of detective stories. He was a lawyer by profession and started writing under a number of pseudonyms. Although he is most well known for his Perry Mason fiction series, he also took interest in travel writing and true crime.
