Certain clarifications you really need to know before buying this

This is a dobsonian type telescope, so it does not look FAMILIAR. It is a illusion that it gives 180x zoom. For those who know physics, by simple calculation its magnification is
=(length of hollow tube)/ (focus of lens).

In this package, u get 4mm and 20mm lens and tube length is 300mm. So max and min power is 300/4=75x and 300/20=15x. However u may get 180x zoom if u buy accessory kit, which would cost another 3000rupees and not easily available too. BUT the good thing is 75x is lot more ...

Informations that you need to know

This telescope does not provide 180x magnification readily.I learnt this thing after I received this product. The containing box says maximum magnification that can be obtained is 75x.Then whats the 180x thing?
Every telescope come with its own focal length, light gathering capability and aperture length properties. These all 3 are very significant.Your ultimate magnfication is the division result between telescope's focal length and eyepieces focal length. This particular telescope's focal lengt...

Not good as expected

I bought this Telescope one month ago after comparing with other scopes this one was under my budget and also the zoom mentioned on the Flipkart site seems impressive in this price range, but after using this from last one month it doesn't seems to be 180x scope.

I am able to see moon and only moon tried to see other planets like Jupiter and Saturn but not as good as expected. Was searching on net on how to use it in better way found that I can use a Barlow lens to increase it's zoom, lookin...

Not been able to use it once properly

I bought this about a month back and have tried using it multiple times. Not once have I been able to see anything that is different from what I can see with the naked eye.

Perhaps, being an amateur, I did not set it up properly, but then I did go through the material Celestron has provided related to this piece and set it up.

Considering the piece as well as the accompanying material as one package, I would not recommend this product.

For absolute beginners and aspiring astronomers

This is a very beginner scope. Those who do not have prior experience in telescope handling would be grateful to it. I have bought it two months ago and after spending a good amount of time with it , now I would like to review it.
first of all I admit eyepieces included with it are made of old obsolete design and are not excellent. But these are quite good for beginners(IMO) and for this price range. On the contrary, mount and focuser are solid. I do not understand much about the reflecting m...

good for beginers

its gud enough for newcomers. I hav 10 x 50 binoculars then I bought this one.intially cumbersome to use, but once u r used to it,then fairly easy.moon with craters is beautiful if u give enough time for observation.Jupitor with its four moons r easily visible in clear night. no details of jupitor can be made.Saturns ring is difficult to appreciate but with constant effort and fine tuning urself and ur telescope u can appreciate flat disc of Saturn with central bulge.i have made videos of Sat...

Best entry level telescope that money can buy

For beginners in astronomy this is the best entry level telescope that you can buy. An absolute steal for the price. You can't find a better scope anywhere else. Even other online retailers are selling it for a much higher rate. I have searched and read a lot of reviews online before buying this scope. My request to youngsters who buy and replace their mobile phones every 6 months with their parent's hard earned money is to buy one of these, go to your terraces and explore the night sk...

good one for beginers.

The celestron first-scope is a very basic telescope. The maximum zoom available in the pack is 75 X. Flipkart showed the product as 180 X which is misleading.Request Flipkart to avoid such false description. The telescope is only capable of 180 X zoom but the shipped model does not have the 180 X zoom lens.
At best the telescope is a binoucular where you can see the moon in good detail and more stars than the naked eye. I could see the jupiter and its 4 moons but they appear like a faint star....

Good beginner telescope.

I have a 8" Dobsonian telescope about 5 feet in length which I don't feel like lugging out to watch the stars whenever I want, so I invested in this telescope to just put in the balcony and watch something of interest when it shows up in the sky. After collimation, I have used it to see Jupiter which is in the night sky now and am able to see it's bands pretty clearly using the supplied eyepiece (though there is some rainbow effect on them) and other eyepieces that I had invested in for the b...
