    Description

Chanakya's Chant is a thrilling novel that tells the story of the famous strategist Chanakya who lived in 340 BC. It also tells the tale of Gangasagar Mishra, a possible reincarnation of Chanakya. This novel is an exciting page turner.

    Summary Of The Book

Chanakya's Chant, published in 2010, is an interesting novel that weaves together two different time lines. The book begins in the year 340 BC, and shows how a young Brahmin boy is traumatized by the murder of his father. He decides to take revenge, and uses his calculating brain to plan it. Slowly, he becomes an expert political strategist and is known as Chanakya. He uses his skills to unify the country Bharat (ancient India). This unity, teamed up with his expertise, ensures that the army of Alexander the Great is defeated, and Chandragupta is crowned the king of the Mauryan empire. With time, Chanakya gets bored and decides to use his intelligence to pen down the Arthashastra.

Chanakya's Chant then shifts into modern India, two and a half millennium later. It focuses on Gangasagar Mishra, a poor Brahmin teacher. It turns out that this man becomes a puppeteer to people. He witnesses how contemporary India is riddled with corruption, greed, treachery, and hatred. He realizes that in order to succeed in this society he too must indulge is such malpractices. However, Chanakya's Chant highlights the possibility that this man could be a reincarnation of Chanakya. Gangasagar plans to make a slum girl the Prime Minister of India. Will this man be the answer to India’s problem? Will history repeat itself?

This novel is fast paced, and highly captivating. The book has been praised by critics and readers. Chanakya's Chant was released in Mumbai by the renowned writer and politician Shashi Tharoor. It is the recipient of the 2010 Vodafone-Crossword Popular Choice Award. Film producer UTV have acquired the movie rights to the novel.

    TOP BOOKS

There are few authors in India who write exceptionally well. Ashwin is one of those. I am a vivid reader and read almost all the books that come my way. This stands first.

    1. Chanakya Chant- Ashwin
    2. Journey Of Two Hearts- Anuj Tiwari
    3. How I braved Any Aunty - Varun Aggarwal
    4. Life is what you make it- Preeti

    Not so great

The book is not as great as some reviews are trying to make it out to be. Whereas the original Chanakya's story is quite gripping and very well told, its the modern Chanakya's story that is not great. Apart from the modern adversaries looking to be dumb and modern Chanakya somehow has a pill for everything, the original Chanakya's story looks more plausible. But this is smaller of the issues. The bigger one is motivation. The original Chanakya was clearly driven by the bigger idea of unified ...

    Magnificent book!

Ashwin Sanghi's "Chanakya's Chant" is a great book. First of all considering the negative sides, this book can be a bit hard to catch up as two different stories of different ages are written together. But its wonderful to know that both stories are let to the same conclusion!

However this book always strives as it has a modern narrative style with good vocabulary. I believe that it is a must read for all the people who are interested in politics, economics and business. Its actually worth ...

You gotta 'push yourself' whilst reading this book......

Aware of its success in the market, i started this book with many expectations. The first few chapters, say a 60 pages, were extremely gripping and drew a sense of curiosity and excitement in me. And honestly i say, Aswin Sanghi did a good start for this book. The remaining part of the book made me feel worse. I just continued reading this book in hope to find a corner which would satisfy me but did not find anything of that sort. I pushed myself up to 400 pages but failed to complete it. An...

    Disappointed

With some many giving rave reviews about this book, I wanted to read for myself what could be called as India's answer to Dan Brown.
The first 100 pages was worth it. Character depth, love, emotion was captured very well. After that, it was complete politics. I was bored and had to stretch to finish the book.
The author failed to create the initial hype through the latter part of the book. As a reader, I had to turn my pages fast just to get to the end. The last few pages brought some life ...

    A good read but.........

I enjoyed reading the book..It was a good read..especially liked the concept and writing style..Sanghi takes you through two time periods at a time with alternate chapters..what I did not like about it is that the story gets predictable..Its like a bollywood movie..and yeahh...if you have seen enough political dramas in bollywood..you can simply make out whats waiting for you at next chapters..having said that the book still offers enough satisfaction in terms of reading experience.

    Wasted my time

2 parallel stories of the real chanakya and the modern day chanakya of Indian politics.Too many characters and I found it tough remembering who's who. Most importantly both the chanakyas always win by some way or the other and no opponent can match their wit and skill.I have a serious problem with this kind of win-win stories.Only plus point is that you get to know a lot about the real Chanakya though I do not know how much information is correct and how much is made up.
