Great..

People mark Hitler and Stalin as mass murderers. But few know about Churchill being a mass murderer too. This book has given quite significantly the description of Churchill's attitude towards Bengal. He knew, it will be impossible for Britain to rule India if Bengal starts protesting.

Reason to hate the British rule

A must read for all those who are indoctrinated to find merit in the British rule. Churchill was a low morality politician who is thoroughly despicable and overrated. Author has done a service to the Indians.

Churchill's Secret War : Madhusree Mukerjee

Brilliantly researched and meticulously written a must read for the well informed Indian.I would recommend this book as a course for students in schools and colleges. This is a great wrong that needs to be righted within the Indian mindset that the british were here to improve our lot while the grim reality was that they were here to loot as much as in they could.Every one of their systems were geared up to that 1 and only gain.

Just wow!

This book is a must read for the people who think western culture/people is superior than us. Churchill was worse than Mao, Stalin and Hitler put together but we didn't know that because our historians hid it to prove their agenda

Be prepared for eerie excellence

A rather chilly account of the devastating famine of 1942-43 in East India (the Bengal famine) juxtaposed with the apparent heroic war fought against fascism in Europe and the movement for independence. The eerie, almost dispassionate way in which the author ticks off the statistics of death and suffering do subtly give an inkling of the apathy. Plus, it goes a long way in clearing a lot of myths about British and American politicians as well as on whom and when to lay the blame for the death...

A remarkable book

This book details the events that preceded and led to the Great Bengal Famine in 1943. Collating information from a number of sources, the author exposes the active role that Winston Churchill and his loyals in the War Cabinet ministry had to play in precipitating conditions that would eventually lead to the death of millions of impoverished Bengalis. In her indictment of Churchill & Co., she also describes how the famine could have been totally avoided had certain measures been taken with no...
