This set of 12 books will help students to develop their number sense up to 999, covering the concepts of ordering, sequence, greater than, smaller than, number names, skip counting, odd-even. They will be introduced to the third place `hundreds' and learn how the value of a digit varies depending on its place - hundreds, tens and units. The students are taken through various addition and subtraction strategies like breaking up a number into (a) the place values of its different digits or (b) smaller convenient parts that can be useful for doing the operations. They will learn to use jumps of 10s and 100s to make addition and subtraction faster and more intuitive. In multiplication, the emphasis is on understanding the concept and how we build up tables rather than mere rote learning. Fractions are explained intuitively and graphically, preparing students for a more complex mathematical understanding later. Also, students are exposed to mixed word problems and taught to identify the correct operation through visualisation and simple model drawings. They also learn about 2 and 3 dimensional shapes , their key properties and characteristics and real-life examples of these shapes around them. They learn to tell the time to the hour and half hour and some associated concepts like the activities undertaken at usual times of the day, time taken to complete certain activities etc. Students also learn the basic interpretation of pictorial graphs to answer simple questions along with identification of patterns in shapes, objects and numbers and using this to predict what comes next in the pattern.
