Cleopatra - 50th Anniversary Edition [1963]  (Blu-ray English)

The Cleopatra 1963 movie is one of the most expensive films ever made in the history of English cinema which almost bankrupted the production house, 20th Century Fox. The film was acclaimed for its lavish sets which resembled ancient roman architecture and also special effects. The Cleopatra Blu-ray is an excellent way of enjoying this movie for all who have missed it. The story has some great performances by Elizabeth Taylor (Cleopatra), Rex Harrison (Julius Caesar) and Richard Burton (Mark Antony). The story begins with Julius Caesar gaining control over Pharsalus and the defeated Pompey flees to Egypt to seek solace and meets the young Pharaoh Ptolemy XIII. When Caesar meets the pharaoh and convinces him, the Egyptians send him Pompey's head as a gesture. Cleopatra is the Pharaoh's sister who befriends Caesar and falls for her charms till her brother plans to take over his kingdom.
