I think Atul Gawande is one of those very few surgeons who have been very successful in bringing the ideas from medical science to a wider audience. His ideas have found applications in diverse fields like investing (The checklist manifesto is particularly very popular book among value investor community).

Outstanding, indeed!
This book takes you through Gawande's initial years of medicine life and drama.
At the end of this book, you learn that doctors make mistakes and that is OK!.
It is all about learning experiences, after all!

Reading such books always inspires and make us proud that we are doctors. This books also tells the experience the author has in medical field an the way things are handled during the training of a doctor. Similar experiences might have happened in everybody's life.
