Description

Concepts of Modern Physics is a book that covers the latest concepts and applications of physics.

Summary Of The Book

Concepts of Modern Physics consists of major and up-to-date concepts and subject matter. It is aimed at students who already have a background in fundamental physics as well as calculus. The book’s framework focuses on explaining ideas logically rather than loading the student with a lot of details. The chapters covered in the book are Relativity, Nuclear Transformations, The Solid State, Wave Properties of Particles, Elementary Particles, Cosmology, Atomic Structure, Particle Properties of Waves, Statistical Mechanics, Quantum Theory of the Hydrogen Atom, Many-Electron Atoms, Molecules, Quantum Mechanics, Nuclear Structure, and Artificial Radioactivity and Nuclear Reactions. The book starts with the basics like atoms and nuclei. After covering the basics, the authors elaborate on the theory of the atom and then discuss its properties.

The 643 pages of Concepts of Modern Physics consists of not just subject matter but also a large number of questions. The book has over 400 illustrations and 700 problems, both solved and unsolved which vary from easy to complicated. The explanations in the book take a simple yet detailed approach to each topic. The use of colourful illustrations make it easier for readers to understand the subject.

Great structure

I had this book in soft copy, and many others on similar lines. I just wanted this particular book to keep in hard copy out of them, given its excellent structure of contents and vivid explanation. Constructs requiring advanced mathematical ideas are put in a chapter appendix, which is another good quality in my opinion. Exercises are good for initial development, but not rigorous.
