  • Description

Concepts of Modern Physics is a book that covers the latest concepts and applications of physics.

    Summary Of The Book

Concepts of Modern Physics consists of major and up-to-date concepts and subject matter. It is aimed at students who already have a background in fundamental physics as well as calculus. The book’s framework focuses on explaining ideas logically rather than loading the student with a lot of details. The chapters covered in the book are Relativity, Nuclear Transformations, The Solid State, Wave Properties of Particles, Elementary Particles, Cosmology, Atomic Structure, Particle Properties of Waves, Statistical Mechanics, Quantum Theory of the Hydrogen Atom, Many-Electron Atoms, Molecules, Quantum Mechanics, Nuclear Structure, and Artificial Radioactivity and Nuclear Reactions. The book starts with the basics like atoms and nuclei. After covering the basics, the authors elaborate on the theory of the atom and then discuss its properties.

The 643 pages of Concepts of Modern Physics consists of not just subject matter but also a large number of questions. The book has over 400 illustrations and 700 problems, both solved and unsolved which vary from easy to complicated. The explanations in the book take a simple yet detailed approach to each topic. The use of colourful illustrations make it easier for readers to understand the subject.

A must-have for any Physics student

This book is one of the most amazing Modern Physics books that I have ever come across. It contains an introduction to almost every aspect of Modern Physics, taking a simple yet detailed approach towards each topic. The chapters towards the end about Cosmology and Life on Earth in general are particularly interesting and are, for me, the USP of this book.

The only down part about this book is that it has A LOT of spelling mistakes that get really annoying at times. Ignore that part, and this...

    Great structure

I had this book in soft copy, and many others on similar lines. I just wanted this particular book to keep in hard copy out of them, given its excellent structure of contents and vivid explanation. Constructs requiring advanced mathematical ideas are put in a chapter appendix, which is another good quality in my opinion. Exercises are good for initial development, but not rigorous.

    modern physics- a colorful way!!!

Being a physics student i heard about this book from internet and also got recommended by seniors. This book is a concise and comprehensive book on Modern physics. The explanations are further simplified by colourful illustrations. This book clears fundamental regarding modern physics. but in terms of practice this book has very few solved examples and even exercises to practice. Flipkart's service is as usual the most puntual and as well as the packing is great!!

    Ok Book

Ok book.. but basically not for real hardcore science lovers.. e.g. it uses a theory as a law before giving its proofs.. e.g. While putting forth the theory of relativity, the book is using the same theory as a law and say something like, "if we travel faster than speed of light then bla bla... but....we cant go faster than speed of light because according to theory of relativity, nothing can go faster than light.!! thus theory of relativity is right". Wow ..classic example of circular argum...
