  • Description

Oxford Concise Dictionary of Quotations is the most authoritative paperback dictionary of quotations available.

    Summary of the Book

This dictionary contains more than 9,000 quotations from more than 2,300 authors. The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Quotations is both an enthralling read and a valuable general reference guide. Based on the highly commended seventh edition of the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations, this new edition, with 1,000 more quotes, maintains its comprehensive coverage of literary and historical quotations, and contains entirely current material from today's most powerful literary and cultural figures. It is the only dictionary of quotations that ensures the coverage of the most famous and widely used quotations by searching the largest trending language research program in the world called the ‘Oxford English Corpus’. Users will be able to find wise and witty lines by great minds like Aristotle, Mahatma Gandhi, Herman Melville and William Blake, Marie Curie and Montaigne. The dictionary includes special categories such as Catchphrases, Official Advice, Film Lines, and Political Slogans. An easy-to-use, user-friendly keyword index helps readers to track down quotations and their authors.

    Nice product

This book is a nice collection. But some quotes are meaningless if you don't know the context. For eg. if some famous person says in a rally "Let's roll", what would one make of that if he/she does not know the context. But overall nice collection.
The contexts are mentioned by the way.
