Description
How to make products, ideas and behaviours really catch on.

Why are some products and ideas talked about more than others? Why do some articles make the most emailed list? Why do some YouTube videos go viral? Wordof- mouth. Whether through face-to-face conversations, emails from friends, or online product reviews, the information and opinions we get from others have a strong impact on our own behaviour. Indeed, word-of-mouth generates more than two times the sales of paid advertising and is the primary factor behind 20-50% of all purchasing decisions. It is between 8.5 and 30 times more effective than traditional media. But want to know the best thing about word-of-mouth? It's available to everyone. Whether you're a Fortune 500 company trying to increase sales, a corner restaurant trying to raise awareness, a non-profit trying to fight obesity, or a newbie politician running for city council, word-of-mouth can help you succeed. And you don't have to have millions of dollars to spend on an advertising budget. You just have to get people to talk. The challenge, though, is how to do that. This book will show you how.

Practice before you preach

The author fails to take a leaf out of the innumerable examples that he has listed. Otherwise this would have been a work that would have certainly 'caught on'.
Put simply, this book is a collection of anecdotes and well known stories based on successful businesses. There is never a hint of deep analysis of the characteristic at hand that you would expect from an assitant professor in Wharton. Examples cited are best applicable to those situations alone. For instance the example of turning B...

Contagious | Why Things Catch On...

For me it was a waste of money.. the books lack critical thinking also the style of writing is very boring.. i could not go beyond the second chapter..

There is just not that much information in this book far beyond common sense that most people intuitively know..

The book spans into following chapters

Social currency
Triggers
Emotion
Public
Practical Value
Stories

This work could have well been condensed into a simple 5 page article..

Definitely Not worth spending 349 INR.. TOTAL ...

Excellent Book for Marketers

I am a marketer and I found this book wonderful. This book is very different from 'Tipping Point' and 'Made to Stick'. I have read both these books and was concerned if I will see only repetition. The author himself explains at the start how this book is different.

I found every chapter amazing. The book talks about: "How word of mouth works and how to make your ideas/products go viral?"

The book is full of case studies and examples and is written in a very simple manner. It is a small book...
