  • Description
"The Count of Monte Cristo has become a fixture of Western Civilization's literature, as inescapable and immediately identifiable as Micky Mouse, Noah's flood, and the story of Little Red Riding Hood." -Luc Sante "A piece of perfect storytelling."-Robert Louis Stevenson With Alexandre Dumas's epic novel of intrigue and adventure, The Count of Monte Cristo has thrilled readers for centuries with its sweeping themes of alienation, love, and revenge. With its intricate plot and evocative settings in France and the Mediterranean, this book is one of the most beloved classics ever written. In this quintessential tale of vengeance set in the Napoleonic era, Edmond Dantes, a young French sailor, is engaged to marry Mercedes, a young and beautiful Catalan woman. In a terrible act of jealously, three men betray Edmond, and he is wrongfully convicted of treason. He is sent to the infamous Chateau d'If, one of the most feared prisons of France. After a daring escape from imprisonment, Dantes hunts in search of a treasure that he has learned of from a fellow inmate. Once in possession of his vast fortune, he returns to Paris as the mysterious Count of Monte Cristo to wreck revenge on the three men who have betrayed him. Dumas's tale simmers with intrigue and excitement and remains one of the great classics of our time. With an eye-catching new cover, and professionally typeset manuscript, this edition of The Count of Monte Cristo is both modern and readable.

    Best in the market!

Its by Penguin Classics edition. Around 1300 pages.
The binding is perfect and so is the delivery. But, the packing, wasn't hard which is why there were a few scratches here and there which infuriates a true bibliophile.
If the books are coming from far away, books or any packages, please pack them in hard bindings, so that when we receive it, there's no scratch.

If only there were 6 stars to give!

This is a favourite book for me and my sister - one of only two books I would recommend to almost anyone. I have owned 5 or 6 copies over the years; when my latest one went awol, I ordered this edition from Flipkart. Flipkart service, as usual, was excellent. The edition is good, complete and unabridged (this is not a book to be read abridged!), the only complaint some people could have is that the font is small; not an issue for me...

As for the book, what can I say? I have loved this book...

    Perfect product!

I was a bit hesitant after seeing the seller's rating (it was 3.3) but the book is in really good condition. No dents or scratches, no damages. Page quality of Penguin Clothbound is better than other hardcovers (as expected). And there isn't much to tell about the story coz I just received it.

    Incredible Detail And Exceptional Realism

This book is an absolutely off-the-shelf plot about the deliverance of justice in the most captivating of forms. Dumas clearly had an exceptional ability to capture and pay careful attention to the most miniscule details: a fact which is evident from the first few pages of the book itself. Not a single page of this book seems even slightly incompatible with the rest: everything is arranged in perfect harmony. Although the length of the book may drive even the most avid readers off, reading it...

    The classic by Alexandre Dumas

The most riveting tale of Revenge by Alexandre Dumas... I personally feel that this is his best work ever.

I have read this book so many times since my childhood and every time I read it I feel exhilarated. I am a comics addict and have bought this one specifically because Campfire knows what it is doing... putting in their best artwork, drawings, pencils and color; and the story flows like a river.

This story will appeal to young ones as well as adults; in comic form, it will appeal a lot ...
