Excellent book for a person with understanding of SQL and Data warehousing concepts. There are plenty of sites providing basic understanding of data warehousing Concepts. go though such sites and have a thorough understanding of basic concepts(Cubes,Dimensions,facts,hierarchies etc..) and then start this book. I am about to finish this book . I have planned to read another DW book called 'Star Schema The Complete Reference ' by Christopher which I believe will be a good addon

Good book to learn Dimensional Modelling for Data Warehousing.Reading this would make a lot of difference on your understanding of Dimensional modelling and Datawarehouse. This is the latest edition(3rd edition) and contains a lot of Case Study’s on different domains.

It is very good book to understand new Dimensional modelling concepts. As mentioned by author, it has lot of contents or approach changed from second edition.

If you want to get into dimensional modeling and DWH concepts then buying this book is your first step. Please mind that it is the third edition which is release after almost 10 years of 2nd edition. This edition now covers many new challenges to DWH like big data and also covers new case studies and new chapters.

Please make sure that you are purchasing right edition that you are looking for. I was offered combo of 3 books (DWH toolkit + ETL toolkit+Lifecycle toolkit) at discounted price but received lower edition (2nd) of DWH toolkit whereas I was expecting 3rd: recent in the market.

This happened because the offer was placed right below the most-recent-single-book purchase and I fell to the trap overlooking the edition in the combo.

Well organized book which talks about Data Modeling. various scenarios with different industry examples. The second chapter is a good addition in the 3rd edition which talks about Dimensional Modeling Techniques and provides references to detailed examples in the subsequent chapters.
