This is a great book to read for someone picking up this topic, with lucid explanation of the concepts, thought provoking questions in the exercises, sufficient mix of solved examples thrown in to reinforce the theory. On the topic of databases, I am at an intermediate level of competency, and I found this book very useful to refresh what I already knew, as well as learn things that I did not know.

It is a very good book for beginners who want to develop their concepts regarding database management systems. A very detailed and basic approach has been taken. Covers everything that is needed. Nice examples and pictorial representations are given to make the understanding much easier.

Must buy. Complete book. It has all the topics covered, and very easy to understand with good examples. However, the examples are easy ones, and the tricky questions still remain unanswered.
