Summary of the Book
Dr Neel Roy is a man of principles. He has come back to India after living in the United States for fifteen long years. He saves a young lady from death, a stab victim who was brought bleeding profusely into the modern New Delhi hospital where Neel works. But the young woman has no one to pay for the bills and for her care post-surgery. To Neel’s unbelievable astonishment, the hospital authorities decide to pull the plug and they disconnect the ventilator, letting the woman die. Just when the doctor tries to discover the roots of this inhuman event, he evidences a whole world of cold-hearted doctors, administrators, fraudulent policemen and deceitful political leaders. There is more than what meets the eye, to the woman’s death in the hospital. Would the morally conscious doctor be able to untangle this web of unknown reasons? How is his personal life, which is already troubled, affected by this case?
