Description

Motorola’s flagship smartphone, the Defy, have come out with their latest offering, the Defy XT. Like the other Motorola Defy before this one, the Motorola Defy XT comes in a bar form. This device is run on the trustworthy Android v2.3 (Gingerbread) OS that is backed up by a 1 GHz processor. The smooth functionality of the apps is ensured by a 512 MB RAM that provides for the diverse apps that can be run on this phone.

The screen on the Defy XT is a 3.7-inch Capacitive Touchscreen display with an FWVGA resolution of 854 x 480 pixels.

The primary camera on the Motorola Defy XT is a powerful 5 megapixel device which also possesses video recording capabilities. The camera is endowed with Autofocus, Geo-tagging, Image stabilization and Image Editor features, which along with an LED flash, make for a more than capable camera phone. The Defy XT comes with a secondary front-facing VGA camera that allows the user to make video calls easily.

Design

The Motorola Defy XT has an appealing design with nominally curved edges. It has a slim 11.95 mm thickness which makes it easy to hold in the hand. The device weighs in at 115 g which makes it relatively light in weight. The screen is protected by the strong Corning Gorilla Glass which adds a degree of sturdiness to the device. The phone also comes with a Proximity Sensor which kicks in when the device is held close to the ear. This sensor prevents the user from tapping unwanted buttons while making a call by switching off the display.

Storage and Battery

This Motorola Defy comes with a healthy 1 GB of internal memory. The phone also possesses an expandable memory slot which can amplify the memory by up to 32 GB using a micro SD card. The substantial apps on this device are powered by a 1650 mAh Li-Ion battery which promises to give a talktime of up to 9 hours when used on the 2G network.

Connectivity and Features

The phone promises to keep the user connected under most situations with a wide range of connectivity features. The phone features GPRS and Edge technology to keep the user connected to the internet over the 2G network. For a faster browsing experience on the move, the phone is capable of connecting to the 3G network as well. Additionally, the Defy XT can also connect to the internet through its WiFi function. The user can send and receive files and documents on the phone via the micro USB port or through the Bluetooth functionality. The phone can also be tethered to another device using the WiFi hotspot feature. The phone also has a water resistant and dust resistant feature which adds value to its robustness.

In addition to the above features, the phone comes with assisted-GPS functionality which is used in the Google Maps application. The phone is also an entertainment aide featuring a music player, a video player and an FM radio. Additionally, the phone also features useful apps like Gmail, Google Talk, Youtube and Google search.

You can buy it for build quality

I bought the phone just two days back.
The phone has pretty good form factor that impressed me. Feels good on hand. Good that it has very bright and clear display. It has FM radio.
It has Front cam.
This is supplied with 2GB SD card (expandable to 32 Gb)
The phone supports GSM (the motorola India website says only CDMA) Don't be confused on that.
The call quality is good. Wifi is good..
Sound quality of speakers is only okay, I expected even better... The supplied head set is not in-ear ...

I liked the phone for
Good about the phone:
- Good user interface, fonts, screen and display quality
- decent for those looking for phone of 3.7 inches and not too big like samsung galaxy s2
- onscreen keyboard is good for typing even with big fingers (not for too big)
- you tube video quality is very good
- from my 1 week of usage, battery life is good - gives 1.5 days for decent usage of wifi (1 to 2 hours), phone calls (1 to 2 hours) and music player (1 hour)
- external speaker sound when...

My first android phone

I got this mobile this Saturday and am loving the experience so far..

It's got a great touch, it seems secure, and feels quite great in my hand.

But this was not what i really wanted i had planned to get a defy+ and my dad surprised me at the last moment.

its got a bit lesser internal space than the defy plus but with the proper apps it wont be a problem.

the 1 ghz processor aint snappy enough. But it aint slow either. its just in between. the screen transitions arent too smooth. But th...

Please dont buy Motorola Products

Motorola has stopped its India Operations. The support is now outsourced to Redington Service India. And my phones ON switch got a complaint I gave it to the authorized service station and they said the board has to be changed. When they changed the board the Speaker stopped working and the phone is not supporting the sim. It has been 4 months since the phone is in the service center. Whenever I call the customer care. They say to wait one week. No response from Kerala Service Head or India ...

Review of the phone....Sad phone....

I bought the phone around 4 to 5 months back.. had some problem with it(Flip kart replaced it for me...so as always Happy to be a Flipkarter)
Now i do agree with some of the reviewers that IF LESS UNALTERED THIS PHONE WORKS WELL.........
but the Fact that when you own an android... the mere thing about owning a Google android device is the availability of nice functional apps and the speed at which the OS upgrades are available...

Currently the phone behaves sluggish few times a day.. somet...

Why motorola?

'Cause its still packs a punch
This is my first touch screen phone, I;m not very good with 'No Buttons' but this came along.
The specs said that its waterproof, scratch resistant etc,
and so I got one, & im lovin it,
For this price or a little more you will definitely get a better , feature rich xperia or samsung.
But this one has that cool feature of being 'cool' , it's sleek and tough , its got all the smart phone feature, (I bought a book on flyte just to read on the phone.. and see how i...

lots of Cons...less Pros

My first Android device. Using from last 4 months
Cons: 1. As a average user one would see its music quality. The Hadphone give with the device is of no use. u have to switch for new one. I had my old nokia headphone. U cant hear music if u travel by bike. Very low on sound.
2. Again a genral feature; Camera....5 MP as per compny specification bt it is bullshit at low light and at the night. Flash is of no use. The average Samsung and Micromax can click better pictures at same condition. Flas...
