Pros of this book compared to Machine design by R.S.Khurmi
1. Simple, straight forward & very authenticated
2. Less number of problems under each area but with more varieties (I consider this as a pro rather than con)
3. Very useful for competitive exams like GATE because this book makes u understand the subject & not just solve the problem
4. Makes you fall in love with 'machine design'

This is a very good Indian text in Design. The concepts are explained very well. There are many worked out problems in this book. Most of the formulas and data are same as that of in PSG design databook.
Among all Indian authors, this is the best book for design.

About book, it is a nice book which explains contents in a simple & easy language but cannot say that this is the best. There are several books by foreign authors which are much better than this

It perfectly matches my syllabus.The contents are written and presented excellently.This book will be useful for mechanical engineering students.
Just few topics were missing.but still this is a better choice for this particular subject.

I have used this as a reference book along with the one authored by Shigley. Concepts are explained clearly in a lucid style incorporating isometric figures for illustration. Though not all information is available it is more than sufficient for both UG and PG studies. The highlighting part is that it uses Indian Standards as suggested by BIS and many extracts of selected codes are included. Over all its a very good book for those who aspire to be machine designers.
