P. Kumar is a core geographer. He completed his undergraduate, Master of Arts and Master of Philosophy degrees from the Department of Geography, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. He also trained in remote sensing and GIS with the National Atlas and Thematic Mapping Organisation (NATMO), Kolkata, West Bengal. For the last eighteen years, he has devoted himself to research and teaching. He teaches as an Assistant Professor (adhoc) at Swami Shraddhanand University, Delhi University. He has also been a visiting lecturer for Civil Services Academy at Pandit Deen Dayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar, Sr. Lecturer at Srichaitanya Degree University, Hyderabad, and Lecturer in Geography at reputed coaching institutions.
