Page-turner all the way!

I bought this book on a Friday and I was done reading it by Saturday afternoon!
I was so hooked, I read it in one go!
I think modern Indian women and girls have found a new sexy, stylish, yet strong role model in Niki Marwah!
I quite liked how the author has included a boisterous Punjabi family, a forever eligible bachelor, and other quirks very specific to the great Indian family!

Just one complaint - After the entire build-up, the end comes way too quickly. It's almost like the author was ...

Good thriller

Disclaimer: I have ready very few Indian mystery thrillers / whodunits so far.

Drop Dead is a fast paced mystery thriller. The story is set in India, with characters most Indians will be able to relate to. The language too is everyday language that most Indians can relate to.

The story has a lot of sub plots to keep you guessing through out. The characters are reasonably well developed - especially the investigating team.

Overall, this is a good read, and will interest me to pick up anothe...

Finally, a solid Indian detective novel...

I've been experimenting with Indian authors on Flipkart for quite some time, but so far, it was just disappointment after disappointment (except may be for Anuja Chauhan, she was good, at least I enjoyed her "Those Pricey Thakur girls")
But now, finally I have found one great Indian author, who is not afraid to make her characters and settings really Indian, and not some wannabe Western types. (This holds for Anuja Chauhan too). That is really what made me love the novel. The characters are s...

Great mystery

Niki Marwah is a cop. Her persona is well-characterized. She is a treat. Just like Swati Kaushal's earlier heroines Niki Marwah is also a very, strong, independent young woman.

Niki sets out to solve a murder mystery of a high-profile businessman in a place called Sonargham (made-up). The mystery is kept intact and is maintained throughout the book. The reader is kept guessing about the murderer till the end. Characters are well-tailored and fit to the tee.

Definitely worth a read.

Nice read!!

It was really a page turner all the way. The plot thickens at each and every step. By the time the mystery was reaching its zenith, the author finished the book ending the suspense. Calling Swati Kaushal a desi Agatha Christie would be injustice (to Agatha Christie) but it was a great attempt.

Good work

I thought writing was a little clumpsy. But the plot is solid. The way story proceeds is impressive. But was disappointed at the abrupt end. Could have been better. But over all a book worth reading, albeit the fact that it could have been better.

Crackling Read

This is a real page turner. Set in the hills of Himachal, it starts with the murder of a CEO of a large publishing firm, who apparently had a king-size ego, and made many enemies, especially among those that are with him attending a corporate retreat. Swati's new detective character Niki Marwah, who must solve the mystery is a (very) modern cop who makes no bones about either her femininity or her power as the SP on the case. It was late when I finished and worth the bleary eyed morning after!
