Bhimli is a suburb of my native place. The Dutch were the first Europeans, who established Bhimli as an important port. Otherwise, it was only a fishing village. Later, the English set their feet into the Dutch and developed it into a passenger port for traveling between Calcutta and Madras. Though the Dutch inaugurated the Port they are forgotten. Their only remains are their cemeteries. The Dutch built a two-storey building and an umbrella-shaped structure near the shore, facing the sea also disappeared in the last fifty years. Hence the book reminds a little about their past on the East Coast.
