The Spirograph is composed of different wheels and toothed rings in transparent plastic. The wheels are the moving parts, and are positioned in the rings, fixed parts, so that they can rotate through the gear system. A sheet of paper is attached to the tray using plastic pins. The tray is itself composed of a toothed edge, on which can be fixed a ruler or directly the toothed rings. Then simply place a gear in the ring, and a ballpoint pen in one of its holes to draw a curve on the paper. The pen is used both to draw and to provide the driving force. Some practice is necessary before the Spirograph can be operated without disengaging the fixed and moving parts.
