Summary Of The Book

Eclipse is the third book in the romance and fantasy series, the Twilight Saga. The series revolves around Isabella Swan (Bella), a teenage girl whose life is changed when she moves to her new home in the town of Forks, in Washington. She meets a boy named Edward Cullen and falls in love with him. Edward Cullen is a vampire who is more than a hundred years old.

Soon, she is caught up in a fantastic world of confrontation between the warring tribes of vampires and werewolves. She is torn and stuck in the middle, because her friend Jacob Black is a werewolf.

Eclipse begins with a series of unexplained murders in Seattle. Edward suspects that a vampire named Victoria is responsible for the attacks. It is later revealed that Victoria is using a group of young vampires to satisfy her blood lust and to find Bella for personal reasons. The vampires and werewolves decide to put aside their differences in order to combat this common enemy.

During all this, Bella has difficult decisions to make. She is forced to choose between Edward and Jacob, and this is a hard choice to make, as she realizes that she loves them both. She also has to choose between life as she knows it, and a strange new life that she has to follow. The book was adapted into a movie, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse starring Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner.

About Stephenie Meyer

According to the author Stephenie Meyer, she was inspired to write the Twilight Saga by a vivid dream. In 2003, the homemaker mother of three young children sat down during her free time to type out the novel, and she finished it in three months. She was persuaded by her sister to publish the book. After initial rejections, the first novel in the series,Twilight, was published in 2005, and it became a national bestseller. It was only a matter of time before it became an international phenomenon, attracting millions of teenagers and young adults from around the world.

Meyer followed it up with the second book, New Moon. Eclipse is the third book in the series. The fourth book is Breaking Dawn.

Her books portray teenage life, love, and its accompanying problems, wrapped in a fantasy tale of vampires and werewolves.
Stephenie Meyer was born in Connecticut in 1973. She grew up in Arizona, with five siblings, and graduated with a degree in English from Brigham Young University, in 1997.
