Electrical engineering has been written as a core subject for every branch of engineering. No engineering work can be done without electricity and basic input to all engineering is electric energy. Hence, elementary course on engineering is essential.
The book has been divided into eleven chapters that include
Unit-1 DC circuits and analysis deals with source transformation, loop and nodal analysis, Kirchhoff’s law. Network theorems have been studied and explained through applications of this theorems. Star delta transformation is also discussed in detail.
Unit-2 AC Fundamentals deals with ac circuits, series parallel circuits, its resonance, low power factor.
Unit-3 deals in Three Phase Systems, its necessity and advantage over other systems, concepts of phase sequence and line and phase voltage and current in star and delta connections, methods of power measurement using wattmeters are described.
Chapter on measuring instruments provide an in depth analysis of types of instruments, construction, working of various types, use of shunts and multipliers are also discussed.
Unit-4 deals with Introduction to Power Systems, magnetic circuits and transformers.
Unit-5 deals with all the electrical machines like dc machines, synchronous machines and induction motors.
