A smooth introduction to information theory

A really good introduction for non specialists. Elementary knowledge of probability and statistics is advantageous bot not essential. Ideal for self study. A must have for those working on entropy, asymptotic equipartition etc. Statisticians would like Chapter 12 on the connection between information theory and statistics.
