Summary Of The Book
The 90s were a period of liberalization and transformation for the Indian economy. The author starts tracing the trajectory that punctuates the noteworthy high and low points, their causes and relevance in this book. He studies the relation between the political and economic reforms along with the accompanied growth. He also details the important and popular events that had implications on the country’s growth and stability.
In Emerging India: Economics, Politics And Reforms, Bimal Jalan analyses the prevalent policies of those times, and also evaluates them as per their effects on the economy. He says that India’s future probability of emerging as a superpower stems from the sharp swings of the country’s fortunes over the years.
Furthermore, the writer has imparted an individualistic approach in writing this book. He pragmatically dissects the policies subtly to inspire the common individual to actively contribute to the economic growth instead of passively reflecting on the changes made. Along with highlighting the positive points of the system, he also talks about how the inflation crisis is setting in quite often, a situation where individuals are considered potent sources and contributors.
Emerging India: Economics, Politics And Reforms talks about the various problems of the country and brings them to light for the reader. The author talks about the huge potential of the country and focusses on the imminent problems that have probable solutions. His principal thought is that the country has the capacity to develop faster than ever if the right kind of policies are used.
