Chemical thermodynamics is the investigation of how heat and work interact during chemical processes or when states change physically while staying within the parameters of the rules of thermodynamics. Chemical thermodynamics includes not only the measurement of different thermodynamic parameters in the lab, but also the use of mathematical techniques to investigate chemical problems and process spontaneity. Based on the first two rules of thermodynamics, chemical thermodynamics is organised. It is possible to derive four equations known as the "Fundamental Equations of Gibbs" by starting with the first and second laws of thermodynamics. With relatively easy mathematics, a number of equations connecting the thermodynamic properties of the thermodynamic system can be obtained from these four. This describes the chemical thermodynamics mathematical framework. This text gives the reader a strong foundation in chemical thermodynamics through its conceptual approach. This is rigorous enough to serve as the foundation for more complex treatises, but it is still approachable.
