Wonderful World Of Space from Disney is a book that introduces the stars, the moon, planets, comets and other celestial bodies to young children.
Summary Of The Book
Young children are curious about everything and are not hesitant about asking questions. One of the things that fascinates children just as it does adults, is the world around them, the whole universe. What are those twinkling objects in the night sky, how big is the moon, how hot is the sun and more such questions wait to be answered.
Wonderful World Of Space provides the answer to these and many more questions. The book is divided into sections like planets and moons, stars, the universe and its galaxies, and measuring time. It discusses many subjects like constellations, supernova, red giants and white dwarfs, various planets, and galaxies. The book covers concepts like the Big Bang, black holes, the expanding universe, quasars and cosmic time in a way that young children could understand.
Wonderful World Of Space starts each chapter with a little introductory text. The rest of the information is presented in the form of questions and answers. The book contains visuals to accompany the text.
The book, like other Disney Learning books, makes use of Disney and Pixar characters to make it more interesting. These characters, from Lilo & Stitch, Toy Story and Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck appear throughout the book, adding some interesting and funny asides that would make the kids laugh.
The presentation is clear, lucid and informative enough to interest even adults. The author provides some practical information like how to find the constellations, and a sky watcher's calendar. He also suggests some astronomy activities that a family can do together.
