Amazing Book - A must read!

Usually am awry of books which claim to teach English or for that matter even the Spoken English classes as I firmly believe it is something that cannot be taught. It can be only learnt on your own and this book proved me wrong.

The author has written an amazing hand book mixing his own experiences with the some basic rules to be followed to master this language and he is bang on! the tiny notes at the bottom of each page along with illustrations make it a wonderful read and this is definat...

An inspiring read

Manish Gupta is an honest, forthright and gregarious banker who has labored over the book for close to two decades. And he doesn't disappoint. The text is anecdotal and racy and words along with some interesting trivia keep popping out as you flip through the book. Read it not just to improve your word power or ken, but also as a work that reflects the predicament of an average Indian student for whom learning the nuances of English language is as important as scoring well in academics, and h...

HAVE A BITE, TASTE THE DIFFERENCE!!!

Before reading this book, it would be good if one has a fair idea as to what this book is all about. Certainly, it is not a book that you can pick on a lazy Sunday, whereas if you are a non-native speaker of English and you look forward to having that polished edge that differentiates a good speaker and an average speaker, then look no further!

Being a guy who is born and brought up in Trivandrum, I can identify myself with Manish in the book as the narrative is quite autobiographical. Manis...

An excellent book!

As some wise man had quipped - It is better to learn from others mistakes than from your own. Manish Gupta through his English Bites not only explains the meaning of 'faux pas' but also lists down several of the ones that he seems to have committed. It is these tales that make the book an interesting read. A great treasure for the ones who feel challenged with English and a refresher for those who think they know (you are sure to learn something new).
Some people tend to get bogged down by ...

A nice learning experience!

English is a fascinating language and everyone wants to learn this language. Manish Gupta brings you a nice English learning method in this book where he tells about his own English learning experience.

It's not preachy but a light read. Little anecdotes based on the author’s keen observation and experience makes this book an interesting read. Difficult / unusual) words are highlighted so that you can learn easily. Readers don’t have to consult the dictionary because the book carries a nice...

Over all the book is well written and quite detailed.

There are scores of books written on learning the English language and I’ve read my fair share over the years but English Bites! is the first book I’ve read that talks about someone’s journey in learning English while still teaching me a lot about it. Manish Gupta takes us down the path he followed starting out in an English medium school as he tried to wrap his mind around the English language gaining a proficiency that finally resulted in a book. The book covers not only words but also tips...

Best book for the people wanting to learn English

Manish Gupta is one author who has debuted with a very wonderful book. Rather than writing any shit book like our Indian authors generally do these days, he has come up with a sensible book which helps you learn English, its grammar and vocabulary. You would be surprised to see the variations the book has. In 350 pages, you will find the help that you were always eyeing upon. I am very happy after reading this book and feel that there's a change in my language now. I will rate this book defin...

An investment

Arguably one of the smartest written books I have read in recent times. English Bites delivers what it promises and that too to the perfection.
English Bites is about the quest of a person, the author himself to conquer the language that once used to give him nightmares. It is a kind of biography but at the same time it is a LOT more than that.
