The DS3231 RTC Memory Module, featuring an I2C interface and integrated AT24C32, provides a cost-effective and highly accurate real-time clock (RTC) solution. Its temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) and crystal ensure precise timekeeping and enhance long-term accuracy by reducing the number of components required during production. This RTC module tracks seconds, minutes, hours, days, dates, months, and years. It automatically adjusts for months with fewer than 31 days and accounts for leap years. The clock can operate in either 24-hour or 12-hour format, with AM/PM indication. It also includes two configurable alarm clocks and a calendar with a square wave output. Data is transmitted via a bidirectional I2C bus, enabling efficient communication with the system. The DS3231 incorporates a precision temperature-compensated voltage reference and comparator circuit that monitors the VCC status, detecting power failures and triggering a reset output when necessary. It can also automatically switch to backup power in the event of a power outage. Additionally, a /RST pin allows for manual reset generation. Furthermore, the DS3231 includes a highly accurate digital temperature sensor, accessible through the same I2C interface. The temperature sensor offers an accuracy of ±3°C. The module also features an on-chip power supply control circuit, which manages both primary and backup power sources, such as a low-voltage battery.
