    Best in the market!

One of the best books I've ever read! I have seen Tharoor's Oxford address a number of times, but this book was an eye-opener. Aside from the many examples of British travesty described so well (the destruction of the Indian textile, agriculture, steel, shipping, and handicrafts industries), the book gives an excellent insight into why post-Independence India is the way it is. For example, why our government bureaucracy is actually an impediment to the country's progress - it was created for ...

The book's alluring & refuted prima facie against British

Firstly I felt ashamed and deserved censure for remaining oblivious and insouciant about my own country's resentful history.
This book just enlightened me about the ostensible British Governance and their mendacity, it was like a time travel back to 1700s and uncovering the hidden truth.

The lucidity, erudition and profound knowledge of the author is just insane.

I must really thank him for this eye opening book.

    Highly recommended

A truly excellent book that makes for an entertaining and enlightened reading. Charles Dicken's novel, ' A Tale of Two cities ' begins with the immortal words .... It was the best of times , it was worst of times. This book talks about the worst of times our country went through , in the best possible way. If we don't know how we came to be and from where , then we can't truly be masters of our fate for the uncertain future ahead.

    Must Read for History aficionados

Dr. Tharoor presents a strong case against colonialism and debunks the various "merits" of colonialism. The anecdotes and instances cited in the book are enriching and shed light on the aspects of the British Raj which go unmentioned in the textbooks and Audio-Visual Modules.
