A truly excellent book that makes for an entertaining and enlightened reading. Charles Dicken's novel, ' A Tale of Two cities ' begins with the immortal words .... It was the best of times , it was worst of times. This book talks about the worst of times our country went through , in the best possible way. If we don't know how we came to be and from where , then we can't truly be masters of our fate for the uncertain future ahead.

One of the best book I've ever read about British Colonialism in India. Every Indian should read this book.

One of the best books I've ever read! I have seen Tharoor's Oxford address a number of times, but this book was an eye-opener. Aside from the many examples of British travesty described so well (the destruction of the Indian textile, agriculture, steel, shipping, and handicrafts industries), the book gives an excellent insight into why post-Independence India is the way it is. Without any doubt this book is great. But..!
Description is saying Hardcover. But they send me a paperback. Completely Disappointed. This is the first time I have been cheated by Flipkart.

An era of darkness. . . . A poor quality , possibly a pirated edition of the book has been mailed to me. Flipkart needs to check the the books as to whether it is original or pirated- before it is mailed to the customer.
