About Eric Carle
An American illustrator, designer and children's writer, Eric Carle has authored over 70 picture books for children.
Some of his best-loved tales include the very famous The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Aesop's Fables for Modern Readers, The Tiny Seed, Do You Want to Be My Friend?, Have You Seen My Cat?, The Mixed-Up Chameleon, The Honeybee And The Robber, The Very Quiet Cricket, The Artist Who Painted A Blue Horse among others.
His art is highly unique and distinctive. Employing the collage technique and hand-painted papers the author adds vibrancy to all his creations.
His love for children and knowledge of nature is evident in all all his works.
He has founded the The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. A recipient of many prominent awards like the Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal, Carle's works have been translated into many languages. A highly popular writer, Eric has sold over 100 million copies of his works. He was born in 1929 in Syracuse, New York to German immigrants. He was married twice and has two kids.
