A good book for understanding linux device drivers

This book is excellent in understanding the current code flow and structure of device drivers in Linux, what each and everything means in a driver code, and includes the drivers that have newly found its way to the Linux kernel 2.6 and later. great experience with Essential LDD

i would say it is a good book for in depth driver programming and it takes the most interesting stuff about Linux device drivers .i really love to refer this book .The coverage of each topic is enough to give the reader a taste of the subject, but too brief to do each topic justice in its own right. One aspect of this book that I do like is that the author has added tips in most topics that are either come with careful reading of more in-depth material or with experience.

Poorly written and misleading

The book is poorly written and horribly organised.Author has tried to cover several topics and provided a general discussion on various technologies. So if you are new to linux device driver this book is not recommended and if you are an experienced linux kernel developer this wouldn't help either since most of the concepts are already known or easily available on internet(Linux journals).Alternately you can go for oreilly's LDD which is bit outdated but still far better and a complete book.
