Etheric Dressing Neem Wood Comb

Its an alright comb, well made and even smells like neem a little, so probably genuine. But I washed it with water once and the comb material changed, thin shards came out of it and the smooth polished surface became rough and uneven. I think the comb had some sort of polish on it that came out by just washing it with water so that was a shocker. But I am still using the comb, its not damaged or anything.
