As soon as she learns of Udie's predicament, she calls the number taped to her phone for the local police station. Sergeant O'Malley answers, and after some discussion and at her insistence, he sends out two of his newest recruits to investigate Udie's complaint. Landry and Stanski arrive on the scene, patient amusement obvious on their faces, despite their fatigue at the tiring end of a long overnight shift. Standing on her front porch, wrapped in an aqua blue floral printed flannel robe, complete with blue slippers and a pink hairnet, Fannie pointed toward her next door neighbor's house. She held her post firmly as they drove into Udie's yard. Fannie watched as Udie's curtains were timidly pulled open, allowing her to see more clearly who was at the front door.
